ALL CHILDREN have the right to express their own opinion and to have their views taken into account in decision-making, especially in matters that affect them.  These rights are guaranteed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).  The Convention on the Rights of the Child respects the views of the child and recognizes the right of every child to participate in their family, school, community and society.  CRC acknowledges the evolving capacities of children to participate in society and to make decisions based on their understanding.

Children from the communities of Aleosan, North Cotabato (Barangay Bagolibas, Dunguan and Pagangan) participated in the “Children’s Art for Children’s Rights”, a two-day children’s art workshop which was held last April 27-29, 2010 in Maguindanao.  The children produced 42 artworks which illustrate the articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.  Each artwork was conceptualized, designed and rendered by the children themselves.  The artworks of children are the visual description of their views and understanding of the rights of the child.

The artworks of the children were used to create a Primer and Poster on CRC which aims to raise the understanding of the people (adults and children alike) on CRC and to uphold and protect the rights of every child at all times.  The artworks of the children were also presented in a short video on the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
